My friend had moved up to Santa Cruz from SoCal. She was constantly inviting me to visit her but I had a new born.

When my daughter turned 2 I decided I had never been to Santa Cruz and darn it! I was going. Another friend and I booked tickets and the following weekend we were headed to Santa Cruz.

We get to the airport in Oakland and when I stepped out of the terminal I was shocked at how different it was from SoCal. I loved it!

Driving the mountain into Santa Cruz was exhilarating. I was in love with NorCal!

Santa Cruz was everything I had imagined. The weather was chilly, the people were warm. The surf community was fantastic and the wildlife sitting right under the pier was amazing. I must have stood watching the seals forever! My friend took us to some cliffs that surfers jump off of and they were scary but I could not look away!

Nighttime on the boardwalk was like a dream. I of course had to re-enact the scene from "Lost Boys" once I found out that the bridge was where it was filmed!

My 3 days in Santa Cruz was one of the best vacation memories I have. I try to go back whenever I can. I do so love it there!

What a great way to discover Northern California and Santa Cruz - with old friends, and with someone who knows her way around! I especially loved your The Lost Boys moment! Thanks so much for sharing your story!

Cheers,
